The Curriculum Reflects Our Values
We have developed a curriculum that meets the individual needs of each child. In keeping with our philosophy of an all-inclusive approach to early childhood education, the curriculum components are age appropriate, thus adjusting to meet the needs of children at varying stages of development.
YOUR CHILD MEANS EVERYTHING TO US
Christopher Robin & Friends Preschool is committed to early childhood education. At the core of our philosophy, we believe that each child is unique and therefore deserves individual attention and care. We provide a safe and nurturing environment for diverse students ages two to five, while focusing on social and emotional growth through exploratory play. Due to their innate curiosity, our staff will develop appropriate activities based on our observations of each child's individual needs.
Our curriculum reflects this comprehensive and highly individualized approach. Kids are divided into different groups during the school week in an effort to provide them with developmentally appropriate activities. At other times, children of all ages play together in order to learn from one another – the younger ones as learners, the older kids as role models.
In addition to the basic skills required for a lifetime of learning, Christopher Robin & Friends Preschool imparts values such as creativity, self-reliance, compassion and respect for diversity. In order to achieve this goal, it is essential for us to work closely with you, the parents and guardians, to provide the best possible situation for your children.
All 5's Program
Our All 5's Program is designed for children age 5 by January 31st. It is for kiddos that miss the cut-off for kindergarten registration, or who perhaps would benefit from another year prior to entering elementary school. The curriculum focuses on preparing students for kindergarten success. There are learning centers in the room, and students are able to explore math and literacy concepts. Along with increasing academic skills and preparedness for kindergarten, this program also emphasizes our core beliefs in strengthening your child's social and emotional growth as well before they enter elementary school. Here's what we cover:
- Kindergarten readiness skills for kids that miss the cutoff or simply would benefit from an additional year
- Learning Centers
- Field Trips and Excursions
- Academic skills necessary for kindergarten success
Pre-K Program (Ages 4-5)
Our Pre-K Program is designed specifically for children age four to five. We are proud of our low ratio of 12 students to two teachers within each classroom. The curriculum introduces children to the basic concepts in social relations, art/drama, movement/music, language/literacy and math/science. These concepts are primarily achieved through participatory "active learning". The program includes:
- Pre-Language Skills & Early Learning Literacy Skills
- Introduction to basic Math and Science in our Wows and Wonders Program
- Music and Movement, Art and Drama
- Gross and Fine Motor Activities through Exploratory Play & Social Interaction Groups
- Excursions, Field & Exploration trips in the local community
In our Wows and Wonders program, we also introduce children to math, emerging literacy, science and drama skills through social play and social interaction with hands on activities, games and problem solving activities.
Preschool Program (Ages 3-4)
Our Preschool Program emphasizes fine and gross motor skills, socialization and self-discovery. The curriculum eases children into the wonderful world of learning through play and other activities. Again, the ratios for this program are set at 12 students to two teachers. The program includes:
- Development of Fine and Gross Motor Skills
- Music and Early Learning Literacy Skills
- Fostering of Social Skills through Exploratory Play
- Arts and Introduction to Drama
Twos Program (Ages 2-3)
Our Twos Program is often times children's first experience in a school setting, and we provide an environment for twos to discover the world around them through exploratory play. Our low ratios of ten students to two teachers create an intimate environment for students to embark on their school career. The program includes:
- Developing Play Skills
- Developmental Stages
- Exploratory Art and Music
Potty training is NOT a prerequisite for this class, we simply ask that we are equipped with a change of clothes for your child. We will work with you and your child in the potty training process.
