WE'RE HERE FOR YOU AND YOUR CHILD
Our work is about one thing above all else – the individual development of your child. Christopher Robin & Friends Preschool will carefully screen and interview teachers to ensure that they meet our high standards.
We are proud of our staff members and all that they do. This is who we are:

I have two daughters, one that is 26 and teaching elementary school in Seattle. The other is 39 and has two children of her own, making me a lucky grandmother of a 9 year old granddaughter and 7 year old grandson! I am an empty nester now and enjoy filling my extra time with walking, cooking and traveling to visit family and friends.

I grew up in eastern Washington and moved to Seattle with my husband in 2005. I spent several years teaching preschool through second grade at independent schools in the Seattle area before taking the last few years off to be with my two young children. I especially enjoy working with students ages 3-6. When not teaching, I love to cook, sew, hike, spend time with my family and friends and read.
Suzie Barrow (Early Childhood Educator)
I grew up and have lived in Northeast Seattle my whole life and love it. I've been part of the Christopher Robin family for over ten years now, and love working with young children. I received my Certificate of Early Childhood Education through North Seattle Community College, and I'm currently working on completing my AAS degree in Early Childhood Education. My husband Cliff and I have four wonderful children; Ian (21), Mackenzie (16), Kellyn (14), and Caleb (12). I volunteer as a youth leader for our church, and as the activities director for a summer camp. When I'm not shuttling kids from place to place, I enjoy reading books, cooking, and watching Korean dramas.
Jane Wierenga (Early Childhood Educator)
I moved to Seattle in 1996 from New Mexico after receiving my BA in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Language Arts. After working in a few different preschools, I joined the Christopher Robin family in 1998. I taught at Christopher Robin until my first daughter was born but have continued to be active as a substitute and summer school teacher since then. I also volunteer at my daughters; school and teach Sunday School at my church. In my free time I read, cook and enjoy time with my family.
Kim Vandervort (Early Childhood Educator)
I am originally from Boise, Idaho but have lived in the Seattle area now for 20 years. Before having children I was an esthetician for 6 years at InSpa. I enjoy hiking, snowshoeing and the outdoors in general. I also enjoy vacations with my family which includes a 7 year old daughter, Lola and a 4 year old daughter, Olive. I am excited to be a part of Christopher Robin and Friends Preschool.
Kathy Svajdlenka (Early Childhood Educator)
I am a Washington native where I earned degrees in vocal performance at Pacific Lutheran University and in music education at the University of Washington. I taught for many years as a private music teacher, and as a choir teacher in the Lake Washington School District. Before that I worked for nineteen years at the King County Library System. Since having my own daughter attend Christopher Robin, I discovered a delight in teaching preschool age children and being a part of their early learning experiences. I am a life-long learner myself with many interests. Currently, I live in north Seattle with my husband, daughter and two cats who all tolerate my passions for garden design, knitting, baking, and all my many other creative adventures.
Sue Kimpton (Storyteller)
I am a native of Seattle and graduated from Washington State University in 1983 with a BA in Finance and Economics. For the past two years I have been telling stories to preschoolers at "Tugboat Story Time" aboard the Arthur Foss Tugboat on South Lake Union. I have also spun tales and performed at local festivals and events in the Seattle area. I live in Shoreline with my husband Alan and two loveable dogs. I am currently writing a children's book, "Hamish McTavish", based loosely upon the beloved and dysfunctional neighborhood characters of her growing up years in Seattle in the 1960s. I have two grown sons, Evan (23) and Eric (20), both of whom can attest to the fact that she has, is, and always will be a clown.
Winnie Chapin Young (School Substitute Teacher)
I am originally from New England but moved to Seattle 32 years ago. I have a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College, a M.ED from Lesley University and Post-Graduate work in the Education Department at Harvard University. I recently retired from 36 years of teaching, the last 15 years at Seattle Country Day School. I substitute taught for Christopher Robin and then taught full-time 24 years ago! (My youngest daughter who is now 27 was a student at Christopher Robin.) I am so happy to come full circle and be back helping out at such a wonderful school.
